Dear friends, followers, prog lovers and passersby!
The time flew by fast, and we found ourselves in the everlooming autumn, rushing towards the end of 2024. The time of reflection – but also of a change. To think of what is done, and what needs to happen in the future.
With Skywound we went as close towards the mainstream as we could allow ourselves to, making sure to still retain the usual Transport Aerian individualism and heavy emphasis on poetry. Indeed, it was a very topical, perhaps even “geopolitical” album if one may name it so, covering many uncomfortable, even often taboo topics of contemporary (underground) music, it was full of predictions of events to come and considerations of the current unease state the world finds itself in. I personally think its lyrical potential is still not fully uncovered… But that’s it.
The album issue which we pressed upon release is gone to the collections of our ever-supporting fans. The follow up live album, which we recorded at the private show in Ghent and which was initially meant to become the Skywound’s line up showcase has become a band’s epitaph instead. So here is the news: Transport Aerian’s Skywound iteration is no more.
It does not mean that Transport Aerian is no more – quite the opposite. This project is known not to stay static or repeat itself – and thus I intend to follow this philosophy further. The band is being reformed, and while it is most probable that the coming line up won’t be the same as the one that created Skywound, it is almost certain that some of the musicians I had a pleasure working with in the past years will continue into the new line up.
Still, it is a somewhat sad thing for me to think of, as this band has been by my side for more than 5 years – and it is the longest I’ve ever worked with the same musicians. But the time is decided for this decision to take place.
Here are some exciting news, which I can already reveal to you before more is announced: the Skywound line up, Stefan, Paul, Umut and I decided to give one last bow to the thankful audience and record and release a goodbye song – which is called Autumnal.
Here it is. Take is a final gift for an iteration that is no more – and let’s together look into the future, which is already on the horizon, looming and luring as it always is.
And as it will be.
