Sometimes the songs take years to be written, in other cases they seem to appear before the context in which they fit. Partly, Epitaph could belong to the second category – but only partly, as it was once a concept in itself. When I was searching for the way Darkblue could be framed, I came across my own writings from the times when I was only but touching the depths of creative ocean with one toe – and the song Epitaph has been originally written then, as a part of something that resembled a book of poetry in prose. I was 14. When it came down to making Darkblue, I realized, that the composition and internal imagery that I was already quite matching that poetic bundle, so I adapted it. There is some sort of continuity in it, as if it was predetermined. Fiobos, after first reading the lyrics, came with the image of a fallen angel – and I didn’t object. Perhaps he’s closer to figuring out the true meaning of this poem than me – an author himself.
